A Special Tournament: Energy, Enthusiasm, and Genuine Participation
On Saturday, May 24th, a special five-a-side football tournament took place, brimming with energy, enthusiasm, and authentic participation. This tournament featured exceptional teams: students from the "Giovanni da Castiglione" Professional Institute, their teachers, and a team made up of our employees. It was a simple event in its form, yet incredibly rich in meaning.
A School on the Move… Even on the Field
The tournament was born from an idea of the students and teachers themselves from the "Giovanni da Castiglione" Institute, who worked with passion and dedication to make it a reality. It was a true school project, meticulously handled in every detail: from creating the poster, to choosing the uniforms, through producing video content, and selecting the prizes.
The initiative was enthusiastically supported by the Municipality of Castiglion Fiorentino and our company, as part of our concrete commitment to valuing the local area, its schools, and the people who live there – our people.
Sport, Fun, and Team Spirit
The matches, each lasting 20 minutes, were played in a climate of sportsmanship and fun, with teams composed of eight players each. The cheering was constant: friends, colleagues, students, and families gathered pitch-side to enjoy a different kind of morning together, filled with sharing and play. The kickoff started a series of exciting challenges. The first match saw the young and fierce Students face off against the tenacious Teachers. In a hard-fought encounter, but always in a spirit of fair play and smiles, the youngsters prevailed 1-0. A result that brought some healthy irony and a demonstration that, sometimes, freshness wins over experience!
Then it was the turn of the Menci team, which immediately showed a high level of professionalism and cohesion. In their first match, Menci against the Students, our team won 5-0, demonstrating a certain technical superiority, but always maintaining a serene and fun atmosphere, appreciated by everyone present.
The third match saw the Menci team back on the field, this time against the Teachers. Here too, our team's determination won out, with a 2-0 victory that confirmed the company team's excellent form.
The day concluded with a fiercely contested final, which saw the Menci team triumph, winning all their matches. However, a well-deserved round of applause goes to all participants: the real prize was simply being there.
The True Victory: Being There and Sharing
Beyond the results and rankings, the true victory of this day was the participation and team spirit that enlivened every match. Students, Teachers, and the Menci team demonstrated that sport is a powerful tool for unity and fun. The greatest success was seeing all of us together, on and off the field, sharing laughter, cheering, and the joy of an initiative that strengthens ties with the local community and its realities. A round of applause to all participants, because being there was the most beautiful goal!
The Territory as a Starting Point (and Return)
This tournament is part of a broader journey that Menci has undertaken in recent years: that of strengthening ties with the local community, building solid and authentic alliances with schools, institutions, and local communities.
